Xbox 360 and Mass Effect 2

By Taylor Sanders

Xbox 360 had its first incarnation of Mass Effect in 2007, said to be the best of its kind in games' history, and when players finished this game, they wanted to keep going. This particular game had a great ending, and it also had some of the best characters most of us who played Mass Effect had ever seen. They were multidimensional, and were so real that they stayed in your mind long after the game was complete. Games like Mass Effect have in fact put Xbox 360 firmly in the lead as far as sales went, and Mass Effect earned a lot of money for Bioware.

If you have played this game on Xbox in recent days, then you probably still have the game saved. If you played it when it was first out, and you deleted the game even though you loved it, you might be sorry to hear that you'll be missing out on a very big plus for you.

That's because if you saved the first Mass Effect file, keep it until early next year, because that's when the Xbox 360's Mass Effect 2 is going to be released. With this, you can import your character saved game from Mass Effect; that will mean you start Mass Effect 2 at exactly the same place you left off.

However, that's not all the good news. What's really good about this is that the moral standing of your character and the choices made in the first Mass Effect game goes right on into the second game. These choices also affect your second game, and if you save your file, you'll basically have one long unbroken experience that seamlessly transitions into the next level.

Have you seen the teaser trailer for Mass Effect 2? You probably remember when the credits rolled at the end of the first Mass Effect. In the trailer, though, we get a close-up of a familiar armor suit, with "N7" emblazoned on the chest. Ah-ha, it's Shepherd, the main character.

Only, it's not. Actually, a Geth soldier wears the suit, and we learn that Shepherd was killed in action. However, these accounts, as they say, were greatly exaggerated, and he's actually back in Mass Effect 2, with a whole new threat to face.

What should you know about Mass Effect 2? Well, first of all, it shares its love of multiple endings with Mass Effect, so there'll be some more of those. Primarily, you'll be on a suicide mission, and the beginning of the game will tell you that. Of course, Shepherd and his team already know this.

You and your entire team can die or you can live. This all depends on the decisions you make throughout the game, and these decisions decide your outcome. However, if your character dies in Mass Effect 2, his death is permanent, which means you will be able to play him Mass Effect 3. - 29872
