Easy and Inexpensive Ways to Build Your Movie Collection

By Patricia Dayton

Who could resist a chance to own a movie that they love? Unfortunately, it just happens too often. Don't worry though, because you aren't alone. Additionally, there are actually many ways to save on DVDs.

Blu-ray DVDs are definitely the new technology out there, but the standard discs are still in demand. Since the prices fluctuate from disc to disc and the quality is actually quite similar, just buy the cheaper one.

Get last year's DVDs at a deep discount at yard sales, flea markets and junk shops. They are cheaper, in good condition and your collection won't noticed that you bought them used.

Don't rule out any places that sell DVDs. Even used record stores sell new and used DVDs at affordable prices. In fact, their prices can be the best around town so go check them out whenever you have time.

Forget buying them. You probably watch them once and never watch them again anyway. Just rent them at a kiosk or find an unlimited subscription plan so you can watch whichever DVD you like.

Online sites will always have the best selection. You can just order them and then wait for them to stock and deliver them to you. Best of all, many online stores don't require you to pay taxes.

Bookstores, especially large ones, have regular sales for a number of their titles. If you don't need them new, you can buy older titles at a much cheaper price at the used section.

The one thing about used DVDs is to make sure that they are in good condition. The discs are durable but they break if the previous user isn't careful with it. Be careful before buying.

Just because a disc is new and from a reputable distributor, doesn't mean that it is not flawed. You want quality at a low price. Don't settle for a poorly packaged or scratched disc. A better one will turn up eventually. - 29872
